My “Why”

MyYMy “Why” (Y)

A common question presented to those building a home business is, “What is your why?”  Why do you want to do this?  What is pushing and motivating you to be successful in this?  Most people who know me would be safe to assume that my why centers around my family, my boys, and becoming financially independent.

But what is my why with creating this website…why am I doing this?  There is a slogan with Avon that says, “You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself.”  We are an Independent Sales Representative of Avon; however, we [should] always have the support of our Upline (i.e. Team Leader), District Manager, and the many resources through Avon and are not in this alone.  However, it is a common situation where Representatives might not have a supportive Upline or District Manager and are left with a lot of unanswered questions as to what to do and end up quickly giving up too soon.

I have never had an Upline myself, but have done a great deal of reading through our excellent training materials and finding mentors within our district over the years.  Most recently, with the development of social media, I have found a great number of successful Representatives who are very generous in sharing their experience and advice with others.  Everyone has different experiences, resources, and ideas and it is always helpful to be able to network with people to help develop ideas of your own.  In addition to connecting with other successful Representatives, there is an always growing number of inspirational and motivational leaders, such as Tony Robbins, Les Brown, and Sarah Robbins, just to name a few, that are always sharing and teaching others.

The thing is, it takes time and intention to read through and listen to everything you need to even begin to find the success you are needing to find in this business.  There are no short cuts, you have to put in the time and effort.  However, I do have 23 years of experience of selling Avon and at least 15 years of resources I have collected since joining their Leadership program.  I have found success in working the neighborhoods in my area and have earned enough with my business to at the very least cover gas for my truck, help with groceries, and provide extras here and there, such as pizza or McDonalds for our family.  I have on more than a few occasions been able to pay for family vacations and birthday parties for our family.  These things I have down and am more than happy to help others do the same, if they are willing to commit themselves to learning.

However, there is so much more that Avon has to offer us and that comes simply by sharing this opportunity, connecting with, and helping more people.  That is “the why” of this website and blog…to gather all of the resources and tools that I have accumulated over the years and share them with you.

Developing a website and keeping a blog is a brand new experience for me, so I hope you will be able to give me some feedback as I learn through all of this.  By doing this, I hope to both pin down the many ideas I have had circulating for some time and at the same time organize for you the many resources I have accumulated over the years and even direct you to the many other wonderful resources there are out there!
